Full planning permission was granted by Blaby District Council for the change of use of a redundant agricultural building to form residential accommodation ancillary to the occupancy of an existing bungalow on site.
Originally, the building was assessed against the limitations and conditions of Class Q of the Town and Country Planning (General Permitted Development) (England) Order 2015, Schedule 2, Part 3 (as amended) and the building was considered to qualify for conversion into a residential dwelling. After consideration, the client decided that there was no desire for the property to be a standalone dwelling. Instead, the intent was to convert the outbuilding into a self-contained, one bedroom annexe accommodation ancillary to the residential occupation of the nearby bungalow.
In implementing the change of use, space will be made for younger generations of the family to return home, assist with the management of the farmyard, and support their elderly relative currently residing alone.
The client had previously been advised that it was unlikely they would be successful in securing their desired permission and was therefore delighted with Class Q’s positive and proactive approach in delivering the scheme.
We got in touch with Class Q after we were told by another planning consultant it was unlikely we would get permission for the conversion we wanted to do.
Tom was confident from the beginning and invaluable to our securing permission for the conversion. He was incredibly helpful, knowledgeable and quick to get in touch as each stage of the process progressed.
Communication was always straight forward and he was happy to explain anything we didn't understand. We couldn't have done it without him, would highly recommend Class Q!
The client looks forward to implementing their permission in the months ahead.
